Canon’s Entry Level Line

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i was launched in 2010 but so far this camera is still rated as one of the best digital cameras on the market. This entry-level DSLR camera offers better features compared to its predecessor, the Canon EOS Rebel T1i. This new camera’s resolution is 18 megapixels and it uses the Digic 4 processor, the same as the T1i. However, it offers a greater ISO sensitivity range of 100-6400 whereas the older one only covered 100-3200. The 3.0 inch LCD monitor has a higher resolution and its SD/SDHC storage is also compatible with SDXC. With the launching of this product, Canon now completes its line of entry level cameras with 10, 12, 15 megapixel resolutions.Design
The new T2i’s body is similar to the T1i with some additional buttons on the exterior. On the T1i, the “quick control” button was placed on the back of the camera but on this new DSLR camera it is located beside the camera’s diopter adjustments knob. Overall, I can say that the camera’s body is quite compact and its finishing is comparable to other cameras in its class.

Menus and Modes
If you love simplicity in a camera’s menu system, then you will like the T2i. It enables you to access all or only some menus in the menu selection. You can also find 12 sub-menus from the custom function menu such as image noise, drive settings, and auto-focus. Many DSLR cameras feature full manual exposure control but the T2i replaces it with creative auto, auto and six additional scene shooting modes.LCD Screen and Viewfinder
This new product features a 3.0-inch LCD with 1,400,000 dots and seven level of brightness. However, sometimes it may be difficult to use the monitor for image composition when you are in bright outdoor light. The viewfinder’s coverage is 95% of the full image size, both in horizontal and vertical axes. That means that there are some edge areas that you can’t see in the viewfinder when you are taking pictures.Performance
The performance of this entry level DSLR is not disappointing, its overall ability in capturing images is comparable to other DSLR cameras in its class. Shooting performance is great, the T2i is able to acquire focus quickly as soon as you have flipped the power switch on.The auto-focus shutter response is about 0.252 second when using standard single-point AF test. Meanwhile, the shutter lag in camera’s manual focus is 0.162 second.

The camera offers single shot-to-shot delay time of 0.75 seconds whereas the continuous shooting rate is 3.7 fps. How about the battery performance? If you use the viewfinder in 73 degree F temperatures, you can obtain around 440 shots. You will obtain about 150 shots to 180 shots when using the LCD monitor.
